Williamsburg, KY – The University of the Cumberlands archery team continues to excel both on the range and in the classroom, as 22 Patriots earned USA Archery Academic All-American honors, officials announced Wednesday. The total sets a new program record and marks the most honorees of any school this season.

"This is a tremendous accomplishment for our program and a reflection of the dedication our student-athletes show every day," said Head Coach Kris Strebeck. "These student-athletes have strived to balance the demands of academics and competition at a high level, and I'm proud of how this group continues to raise the standard both in the classroom and on the range."

This marks the fifth straight year that Cumberlands has had at least 12 archers garner this honor.  Ten of UC's 22 honorees have garnered this honored multiple times in their careers.

Leading the way for UC is Ceridwyn Salyers, who garners this honor for the fifth time as a Patriot.  Salyers joins Kaitlyn Shields as the only two Patriots that have garnered this distinction five times.

Marissa Harding garnered this honor for the fourth straight year, while Joseph West is a three-time honoree of this award.  That trio is joined by sophomores Lilie Aguilar, Ayla Mills, Lanie Nish, Lauren Oosterbaan, Caleb Poe, Jackson Ratajczak, and Hannah Summers, who have earned this distinction in back-to-back seasons.  Anna Jo Rush also garnered this honor for the second time as a Patriot.

Earning Academic All-American honors for the first time includes Heather Carswell, Noah Coyle, Alina Distelberg, Owen Frohmader, Erin Heyob, Savannah Hoffman, Zachary Neilson, Brielle Ochnich, Anslee Roberson, Chase White, and Aiden Woodie.

Cumberlands 22 honorees led the way among all teams in the USA Collegiate Archery for the third straight year.  To be eligible the archer must finish in the top 25% of their class at indoor nationals and have a minimum of 3.50 GPA.

UC is coming off a strong showing during the USA Outdoor Regionals and capturing the Mid-South Conference title.

The Patriots will travel to Lansing, MI to compete in USA Archery Collegiate Outdoor National Championships May 14-17.
