Kingsport, TN – The Cumberlands women's lacrosse team is unbeaten in AAC matches and have outscored their opponents 117-9 in conference matches. After posting a pair of wins last week, the Patriots have swept AAC Player of the week honors with
Emma Rittman being named the AAC Offensive Player of the Week, while
Anna Lobbezoo is named the AAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Rittman was named the AAC Offensive Player of the Week after tallying nine goals, 11 points, and 12 draw controls over UC's two games. The senior opened the week with four goals and a trio of draw controls in the Patriots win over (RV) Tennessee Wesleyan. Rittman netted back-to-back goals in the first quarter, including the game-winning goal as Cumberlands jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first quarter. The Pickerington, OH native followed it up with five goals and two assists in the Patriots win over Montreat. On the week, Rittman posted an 81.8% shooting percentage on the week. Rittman is ranked fourth in the NAIA goals (48) and fifth in points (69).
Lobbezoo garners AAC Defensive Player of the Week after a tallying 12 draw controls, 11 points, and a pair of caused turnovers on the week. The Jenison, MI native opened the week with six draw controls, two caused turnovers, and six points in the win over the (RV) Bulldogs. Lobbezoo followed that up with six draw controls and five points, including the game winning goal in UC's win over Montreat. In addition to her stats, Lobbezoo was a key part of the Patriots midfield that limited opponents to a 31.3% clear rate. Lobbezoo is third in the NAIA with 37 assists and 73 points.
The Pats return to the field Saturday, April 11
