Patriots Opens 2026 USA Outdoor Collegiate National Championship With 1 School Record and 14 Top-10 Qualifiers

Lansing, MI – The Cumberlands archery team kicked off the 2026 USA Outdoor Collegiate National Championship with 14 archers qualifying in the top-10 of their respective division, while a pair of mixed team secured podium finishes Friday afternoon.  The Patriots had strong performances in both the compound and fixed pins division, while Chase White broke the school record in the men's barebow division.
 
Aiden Woodie led the way on the men's fixed pins side as he notched 19 X's over the two rounds to close out qualification with a 683.  That score qualified the freshman second on the day after he carded a 344 in the second round.  Placing one spot back is the defending national champion, Joseph West, who notched a 678 with 15 X's.  Bennett Schuler earns a top five finish after tallying a 338 and a 339 to close out qualification with a 677.  Jackson Ratajczak continued his strong performance carding a 674 to qualify seventh.
 
Ayla Mills was the Patriots top qualifier in the women's fixed pins division after recording a 670.   The sophomore opened with a 340 and closed out the day with 15 X's.  Hannah Summers also notched a top-five finish after tallying a 662 with 12 X's to place fourth.  Heather Carswell notched  a 650 to qualify eighth. 
 
The duo of Woodie and Mills posted a 3-0 record to reach the gold medal match of the mixed fixed pins division.  The pair opened with a 150-134 win over Carson Newman before defeating William Carey 147-139. In the semifinals, UC defeated Union Commonwealth 149-146 to reach the championship match Sunday.
 
Chase White continued his impressive run during the outdoor season carding a 603 to qualify third in men's barebow.  The MSC Freshman of the Year broke the school record for the second straight tournament as he notched a 304 in the second round. 
 
Erin Heyob carded a career-best score of 544 to place seventh in the women's barebow division.  Heyob opened with a 261 before following it up with a 283 in the second round, notching the fourth best qualifying score in program history.  Isabell Lehsten (492) and Mikayla Clemons (481) qualified 13th and 15th, respectively. 

Heyob and White teamed up for a 3-1 record en route to capturing the bronze medal.  The tandem opened with consecutive 6-0 wins over Texas and Union Commonwealth.  After falling in the semifinals, the duo rallied for a 6-0 win over Muskingum in the bronze medal match. 

Cumberlands had a trio of top-ten qualifiers in the women's compound division.  Lanie Nish led the way utilizing a strong first round to card a 684 to place third.  Marissa Harding carded a 682 to qualify fifth, while Savannah Hoffman tallied a 676 to place ninth for the second straight year.

Landon Standish was the Patriots top men's compound archer as he qualified ninth with a 693.  Blaine Kostrzewski (685) and Owen Frohmader (680) also notched top-20 finishes.

Nish and Standish combined for a fourth place finish in the mixed compound division after tallying a 2-2 record.

Lidia Quezada paced the recurve division for Cumberlands after tallying a 592 to qualify tenth. 

Cumberlands will return to the range Saturday, May 16th, as they compete in head-to-head elimination and team rounds.
