Madisonville, KY – The UC Archery Team recorded six podium finishes, while two archers set new school records on the final day of competition at the USIIAC Indoor Regional Saturday.
Miranda Lauria,
Aaron Adams, and
Josh Isenhoff won their respective events, while UC had 12 top-eight finishes.
"After some slow starts on day one, the team fought back to several record-breaking and podium performances on day two," said Head Coach
Kris Strebeck. "We look forward to carrying this momentum into tomorrow's Mid-South Conference Indoor Championship."
Lauria carried over her success from day one and finished with a two day total of 971 to take first-place in the women's recurve event. Lauria won the event by 69 points over the second-place finisher.
Adams shot a 285 on the second-day to finish with a two-day total of 1180 to edge out Dakota Smith of Union for first-place. That qualifying score also ties Adams with Dylan Martin for the best qualifying score in program history.
In the men's compound competition, Isenhoff held off a late charge from teammate
Jase Boils to take first place after shooting 1172. Boils carded 593 on the day to move up five spots in the individual standings and finish second in the event with a total score of 1169.
Courtnie Carr and
Tara Currie both set new school records in their respective events and earned runner-up finishes in the qualifying round. Carr shot an 1181, the best round by a bowhunter shooter in program history, surpassing Haley Haygood score of 1179 set back at 2017 Indoor National Championship. Currie finished runner-up in the women's compound class with a career-best and program record 1152.
Brooke Miller and
Samantha Rayburn finished sixth and eighth, respectfully, in the women's compound competition. Miller notched 1140, which is the second best qualifying score in program history, while Rayburn finished with an 1136.
In addition to Carr, UC had three additional archer post a top-eight finish in the women's bowhunter division.
McKenzie Gaines placed fifth with a score of 1151,
Michaela McDonald shot 1145 to finish sixth, and Gretrude Heavner finished eight after shooting an 1135.
Noah Fields, Cumberlands lone competitor in the men's basic bow, shot a 694 to earn an eighth-place finish.
