Dublin, OH – University of the Cumberlands archer
Josh Isenhoff made program history becoming the first Patriot to qualify for the 2019 World University Games, announced by USA Archery officials Saturday afternoon. Isenhoff will be one of the two archers that will represent the United States in the compound division in Italy this summer.
"Josh has expressed that this accomplishment is that he has worked very hard for this," said Head Coach
Kris Strebeck. "For him to be able to represent the United States on the world stage says a lot about his commitment, work ethic, and our program."
The U.S. Team Trials were held in conjunction with the U.S. National Outdoor Collegiate Championship. Isenhoff earned the top qualifying spot with a 144 arrow score of 1377. The senior recorded rounds of 343, 344, 344, and 346 to place first by seven points. Isenhoff notched 85 10's and 35 "X's" during qualification.
Coach Strebeck added, "I'm proud of him for this accomplishment and for the work he has put in to make it happen.
The Gracey, KY native has already tallied a pair of gold medals at the Outdoor Championships. He teamed with Brooke Miller to finish atop the podium in the compound mixed team competition, while also winning gold in the men's compound team event with
Jase Boils and
Clint Moore. The duo of Isenhoff and Miller went 4-0 with a 149-143 win in the gold medal match. In the men's team rounds, UC went 3-0 with a 221-215 win over Union to capture the gold.
Isenhoff will join Denver Gross of Union College as the male representatives, while Cassidy Cox of Capella University and Dahlia Klimitchek of Liberty University will represent women's compound qualifiers.
The 2019 World University Games will take place in Italy July 9-13.
