Dublin, OH – The UC Archery program rounded out its 2018-2019 season on Sunday with the final day of competition at Darree Fields Park and the 2019 US National Outdoor Collegiate Championships. Cumberlands acquired 22 more points in Sunday's rounds to total 69 points for the tournament which earned them a third-place finish overall out of 60 competing schools. The overall championship would be won by Texas A&M University as Union College would take second place.
Brooke Miller, who qualified as the third-seed in the women's compound division, had a great day on the range. She would run off four straight wins to move into the semifinals of the division. In her semifinal match, she would take down tenth-rank

ed Brogan Monroe of Oklahoma State by a score of 123-117 to move into the championship match against fifth-ranked Caroline McCracken of JMU. In the championship round, Miller would earn her gold medal and the individual national title, winning the match 136-134.
The othe three Patriot shooters in the women's compound division would earn a bye in the 1/64
th round before competing in the 1/32
nd round. The first eliminated was
Tara Currie in the 1/32
nd round as she was upended by Molly Gawedzinski from Union by a score of 130-121.
Samantha Rayburn moved through two rounds with a win over Hannah L'Abbe of James Madison 133-126 and a victory over Ashlyn Scriven of Lindsey Wilson 132-129 to advance to the 1/8
th round. There, she would go against second-seeded Dahlia Klimitchek of North Carolina. Unfortunately, Rayburn could not come up with the win as she fell in the match by a score of 122-105.
Five Patriots competed in the women's bowhunter division with four of the five winning multiple matches.
Gertrude Heavner was the lone Patriot to be eliminated in the round of 1/32
nd by Sandra Childress from the University of Arizona by a score of 116-115.
McKenzie Gaines,
Emily Cardis, Helen McDonald, and
Courtnie Carr all would be victorious through the round of 1/32
nd and the 1/16
th round. In the 1/8
th round, Gaines would have to face teammate Cardis while McDonald would have to face Carr. Gaines would defeat Cardis 125-54 while McDonald upended Carr 95-94 to move on to the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals, Gaines would take on teammate McDonald. After five ends, it was McDonald coming out on top with the 108-94 win over Gaines to move on to the semifinals. There, McDonald would take on ninth-seeded Andrina Savor of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The win would go to McDonald 123-90 to advance to the championship match against second-seeded Aggie Andrea Zenger. McDonald would battle back but fall just short of an individual national title falling by a score of 121-118, earning her the silver medal.
Five more Patriots competed in the men's bowhunter division. All would make their way out of the 1/32
nd round with two falling out in the 1/16
th round. Second-seeded
Caleb Dixon took his previous bye into a match against Jeffrey Grubb from Union College. Grubb would upset Dixon in the matchup by a final score of 133-124. Also,
Jacob Valentini would be eliminated by Dylan Breidenbach of Hocking College by a score of 131-106.
After earning wins in the two previous rounds, Joshua Isaacs would find himself falling short of opponent Evgeny Ogorodnik of UC-Davis by a score of 124-117.
Aaron Adams would have to take on teammate
Jeremiah Jones in the 1/8
th round. This time, it was Jones coming out on top by a score of 124-110 to advance to the quarterfinal round. In his next matchup, Judson Riley from Texas A&M would take down Jones by a score of 118-88, eliminating the last Patriot in the division.
In the men's compound division, three Patriots would qualify and earn byes in the 1/64
th round. The trio of
Jase Boils,
Clint Moore, and Joshua Isenhoff would all win their respective matches in the 1/32
nd round. Both Boils and Isenhoff would advance through the 1/16
th round, but Moore would fall to John Stanford of Mississippi College by a score of 137-119. Isenhoff, who qualified as the second-seed, would move on to the 1/8
th round but would find himself upset by Stanford as well by a score of 122-117. Boils would earn his three wins to advance to the quarterfinals but would have to face third-seeded Denver Gross. In this match, Gross would have the advantage as Boils would fall by a final score of 130-118.
Miranda Lauria would find herself out of the tournament early in the women's recurve division. After having a bye in the 1/64
th round, she would be defeated by Eva Morozko of UC-Irvine in straight ends by a score of 6-0.
Noah Fields would earn a win in his first round of the men's barebow division, knocking off Shawn Blair of Lamar University by a score of 6-2. In the 1/16
th round, Fields would find himself up against fourth-seeded Jackson Wagner of Texas A&M. Noah would put up a fight but would fall to Wagner by a score of 6-0 in straight ends.
Kimberley Wheat would also compete in the women's barebow division but would be eliminated in her first match of the 1/32
nd round by Mengdi He from UC-Berkeley in straight ends by a score of 6-0.
At the banquet following today's round of shooting, awards were given, and the Patriots picked up a pair of awards that are new this season. The All-Around Archer of the Year awards are given to the top male and female archers after combining their 3D Nationals score, their Indoor Nationals score, and their Outdoor Nationals score. Both awards would go to Patriots this season as
Jase Boils would earn the men's award while
Brooke Miller would bring home the women's award.
