4/26/2021 7:40:00 PM

Williamsburg, KY – Men's track and field posted five top-finishes across both days of the MSC Championship. In addition to the titles, the Patriots noted 17 all-conference performances.

Beginning day two of the championships, Carson Johnson led the 5,000 meter racewalk field out of the gates. The second-year Patriot added an MSC title to his collection, placing first with a time of 21:47.53. The time registered as an NAIA A-standard, career best, and a new conference record by over a minute.

On his heels, Nicolas Cecioni completed the one-two finish for the Patriots with a career best mark. He crossed the line after 25:32.78 on the track, an improvement of six minutes since March 27 earlier this season. It also earned him an NAIA B-standard, his first qualifying mark of his career.

The pair of top finishes move the Patriots into third and 10th in the NAIA, respectively. Johnson is already a two-time indoor NAIA All-American and looks for another medal later in May at the national championships.

Also taking champion laurels, Leonardo Daley clocked 14.71 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles. He was able to narrowly beat out the runner up by a tenth of a second, posting and automatic NAIA qualification along the way.

Ken Cobb improved positioning in the 100-meter finals, placing second overall for second team all-conference. His time of 10.84 seconds in Sunday's prelims seeded him third into the finals. He ran 10.88 down the stretch for the finish.

Cobb also scored for the Patriots in the 200 meters, taking third for his second all-conference honor of the week. He posted the fastest time in the prelims on Sunday, a new career best for the junior, and improved even further in the finals to 21.91 seconds.

To round out the day, Cobb also had a pair of showings on the relays, the 4x100 finishing first overall and the 4x400 finishing second. The foursome of Tadarien McIntosh, Cobb, Matthew Chavers and Miguel Reis clocked 42.02 seconds around the one-lap relay, beating out the runner-up by a tenth of a second. Keith Williams, Jeremy Slaughter, Cobb and Reis propelled the Patriots in the 4x400, a season best time of 3:20.52.

Reis led a pair of Patriots into the finish in the 400 meters, he and Williams both improved from the prelims in the final heat. Both posted career bests, crossing the line 49.07 and 49.80 respectively. Reis claimed all-conference honors, finishing second.

Cumberlands finished third overall at the championships with 124 points scored. Lindsey Wilson won the team crown with 208 points scored.

Malik Burns tossed 14.05 meters in his second shot put attempt of the afternoon to advance to the finals. He improved in the second flight, posting 14.45 meters for fourth place.

Following his day one MSC title, Lamar Harris added in a sixth-place finish in high jump, clearing 1.75 meters in one attempt.

Devin Bowling rounded out his 10 events for the decathlon in eighth place, scoring 3,123 points.
