Bowling Green, KY – For the second time this season, Talli Burgess earned Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Week accolades, announced by conference officials. Burgess recorded 9.2 innings of hitless softball against the Shawnee State Bears in her two appearances.

In her game two start, the freshman pitched a complete seven inning no-hitter. She retired 20 batters in order and then finished the game with her sixth strikeout of the contest. In the game the Bears had 12 fly outs or pop outs, unable to get their bats going against Burgess. The fifth inning was all Burgess, beginning the inning with a strikeout and then caught a pop up and a line drive to retire the side.

The final game of the series, the Crandall, GA native came in for relief work. She threw for 2.2 innings and once again left the Bears hitless. Burgess fanned three batters in the sixth innings and then retired the side in order for the seventh frame. The outing earned Burgess her fifth save of the season.

She is now 13-2 on the year which is a team high for victories this year and ranks her fifth in MSC. Her five saves are a new program best for the Patriots, ranks first in the MSC and third in the NAIA. On the season, she has tallied 97 strikeouts, fifth most in the MSC and team best.

This marks the second MSC weekly award for Burgess and third for the Patriots this season.

Cumberlands has wrapped up their regular season with a 40-14 record capped by a MSC record of 21-9. They finished fourth in the conference and will host Martin Methodist later this week for the MSC Opening Round. Live stats can be found here and live video on the UCSN can be found here.
