CoSIDA Academic All-District Honorees

Williamsburg, KY – Just one month ago Hailey Wood was named to the NFCA All-District Team for her efforts on the field and today she can add CoSIDA Academic All-District to her name, announced by CoSIDA on Thursday. The regions are broken down geographically and by division, with Wood being named to NAIA District 2.

As a sophomore, this is the first year Wood is eligible for the award. She is majoring in Biology and earned Mid-South Conference Academic All-Conference honors earlier this season. This marks the third year in a row a UC softball player has earned the CoSIDA Academic All-District distinction with Hannah Stephens picking up the accolade in both 2019 and 2020.

This past season Wood was instrumental in the success of the Patriots, starting in right field for all 56 games and often claiming the leadoff spot in the lineup. The McMinnville, TN native helped guide UC to their first 40+ win season.

She scored 64 times for Cumberlands which was 20% of the total runs for the team in 2021. Once Wood got on base, she was lethal on the base paths, stealing 42 stolen bases, ranking her third in the NAIA and tying for second in a single season in program history. She hit .340 on the season with a team best six triples, ranking her 16th in the NAIA.

Joining Wood as a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree from the MSC are two players from Lindsey Wilson giving the conference three out of the 53 from the NAIA.

Earning CoSIDA Academic All-District honors makes Wood eligible to earn Academic All-American First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late July.

The 2020-21 Academic All-District Softball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
