Williamsburg, KY – Coming off one of their strongest months, the Patriots volleyball team has been named the Texas Roadhouse Team of the Month for October, announced by the athletic department Wednesday.  The University of the Cumberlands Athletic Department in conjunction with their corporate partner Texas Roadhouse are presenting the "Texas Roadhouse Team of the Month", which will be award to one Patriot team each month.

Cumberlands went 8-1 on the month, including an eight match win streak.  The tallied four sweeps during that stretch and only went to five sets once, which they won 3-2.  UC opened the month with a big 3-2 win over MSC rival Cumberland, before sweeping four of their next five opponents.  The Patriots closed out the month with back-to-back non-conference wins over Union and Asbury. 

The Patriots success has come from clicking on all cylinders with a strong attack and solid defense.  Allyson Grava continues to lead UC with a team-high 141 kills on the month, averaging 4.41 kills per set, to go along with 113 digs.  Anna Blumeier is also averaging over four kills per set as she is at 130 kills, 4.06 k/s.  The duo of Grava and Blumeier has accounted for three straight MSC attacker of the week awards.  Danielle Jackson had notched a team-best 14 service aces followed by Grava with 12.  Kendall Arnold is dishing out 9.16 assist per set on the month and has compiled 293 assists and 82 digs.  Arnold has garnered MSC Setter of the Week honors twice in the month. 

Juliet Banks has been lights out for the Cumberlands back line with 198 digs on the month.  The sophomore has averaged 6.19 digs per set and has notched at least 30 digs in a match three times.  Banks' performance has earned her MSC defensive player of the week three times in October and in the win over Union the Scottsburg, IN native recorded her 1,000 career dig.  Cumberlands has three players with at least 20 blocks over that stretch lead by Jackson with 24.  Emily Prewitt and Shelby Lackey has totaled 22 blocks a piece.

Cumberlands will close out their regular season this weekend as they host Freed-Hardeman on Friday at 6 p.m. and Bethel and 6 p.m. on Saturday.  UC is seeking to continue its success at the UC Volleyball Gym where they are 9-1 on the year.
