Williamsburg, KY – Cumberlands athletics saw a strong week with countless outstanding performances across multiple teams, however, its pitcher Morgan Radford and catcher Carlos Muniz that have been selected as the Pepsi Athletes of the Week, announced by the athletic department Monday.
 
Radford was named the female athlete of the week after tossing a complete game shutout in the Patriots 6-0 win over #11 Georgia Gwinnett.  In her Patriot debut, Radford scattered four hits and three walks over seven innings but strong defensive effort and four strikeouts helped hold the Grizzlies scoreless for this first time since April 26, 2019.  Radford surrender a runner in each of the first three innings, however, strong defense including a 1-6-3 double play to end the third kept maintained UC's 2-0 lead.  The sophomore recorded a strike out to end the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings as Cumberlands extended the lead to 4-0.  Radford added a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth to help her cause as the Patriots improve to 2-1 on the season and helped Coach Bailey Dillender collect her 100^th career win.
 
Muniz earned the male athlete of the week honors after an incredible offensive performance on the week.  Muniz went 15-18 for a .833 average with four doubles, five homers, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored.  He opened the week going 6-6 in the doubleheader with Cincinnati-Clermont with four extra base hits, including blasting three homers and driving in ten.  The sophomore followed that up with multiple hits in each of the four games against Saint Francis.  On Friday, Muniz went 4-6 with a two-run home run in the first game and a pair of doubles in the nightcap.  The Naranjito, Puerto Rico native followed that up going 3-3 with a solo shot in the third game of the series and his sixth multi-hit game to cap off the week.  Muniz is hitting .769 so far this season with five homers and 16 RBI.
