Williamsburg, KY – With strong performances throughout the week guard Kassie Monday and attacker Dylan Crouch have been selected as the Pepsi Athletes of the Week, announced by the athletic department Monday.
Monday was named the female athlete of the week after averaging 26.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game over the Patriots two MSC Tournament games. She opened the week with a 24 point, five assists, and four rebound performances in the 71-63 win over sixth-seed Pikeville. Monday went a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe and netted 10 points in the first quarter to help UC jump out to an early lead. She added a pair of blocks, which was a career-high for the freshman. Monday followed that up with a career-high 29 points, seven rebounds, and five assists performance against Campbellsville. She netted 16 points in the first half as UC and the Tigers were tied, before finishing with four three-pointers. Her seven rebounds tied her career-high and it marked the seventh consecutive game with at least four assists.
Crouch earned the male athlete of the week honors after a stellar performance in the Patriots 14-7 win over #6 Concordia. Crouch finished with four goals, a team-high four assists, and eight points in the win over the Cardinals. The senior dished out a pair of assists in the first quarter to help UC jump out to a 6-0 lead, before netting his first goal of the game at the 5:17 mark of the second period. The Trenton, OH native added three second half goals to help Cumberlands break open the game and improve to 2-0. The four assists are tied fourth most in program history, while it marks the third time in Crouch's career he finished with at least eight points in a game. He added three ground balls in the win.
