Williamsburg, KY – After opening their season in dominating fashion, the Patriots Dance team has been named the Texas Roadhouse Team of the Month for January, announced by the athletic department Thursday.  The University of the Cumberlands Athletic Department in conjunction with their corporate partner Texas Roadhouse are presenting the "Texas Roadhouse Team of the Month", which will be award to one Patriot team each month.

Competing at the Patriots Spirit Invite, UC hit the floor and performed a near flawless routine and scored an 86.50 to finish first of three teams and open the season with a win.  That score is the  second-high score in program history.



When the Patriots took to floor a second time that night, they improved their score and earned an 88.67 to win the event by six points over the next closest competitor.  That score is the highest score in program history for a dance team that is in their second season of NAIA competition. 

Overall, Cumberlands two performances have them ranked first in the NAIA with an average score of 87.59.  The Patriots are seeking their first trip to the NAIA National Championship and  is seeking to successfully defend its Mid-South Conference title later this week.
