Williamsburg, KY – Patriots athletics are coming off of another strong week and based on their performances golfers Viviane Braun and William Ekeroth were selected as the Pepsi Athletes of the Week, announced by the athletic department Monday.
 
Viviane Braun earned athlete of the week honors after earning Medalist honors at the AU Fall Invitational.  Braun opened the tournament by carding a 78 (+6), which put her tied for fourth place in the individual standings.  The Wegberg, Germany native followed that up with by shooting the best round of the tournament a one-over-par, 73, in the final round.  Braun sank three birdies and achieved par on 11 holes to leap three spots in the individual standings to close out the tournament with a 151 (+7).  The grad student earned her first collegiate tournament win, while helping the Patriots capture the team title with a 20 stroke win.  Braun's final round 73 (+1) is tied for the second lowest round of her Patriot career.
 
William Ekeroth earned athlete of the week honors after capturing the individual tournament title at the AU Fall Invite.  Making his collegiate debut, Ekeroth was the lone golfer to shoot under par in each of the two-round tournament as he recorded a 138 (-6) to earn Medalist honors.  The freshman opened the tournament by tallying a 68 (-4) in the first round to sit in second place.  The Linkoping, Ostergotland native was one-under-par at the turn and sank eagles on holes 14 and 18 to close out his round.  Ekeroth followed that up with six birdies during the final round to close out with a two-under-par, 70.  Ekeroth becomes the first Patriot to win their collegiate debut under Head Coach Aaron Watkins.  His performance also aided Cumberlands to capture the team title in their season-opening tournament.
