Results
Montreat, NC – UC's women came ready to compete in the final day of the Montreat Open on Saturday. They dominated the racewalk events, hitting three NAIA qualifying standards and finished the day with 13 top-10 individual finishes.
The 5K racewalk saw a trio of Pats hit NAIA "A" standards and sweep the podium with first, second, and third placings.
Alexa Governor clocked a 25:46.25 for first while
Lilian Bittencourt crossed the finish line in 26:51.59.
Ava Newkirk rounded out the top-three with a 28:23.79 finish with
Isabelle Blatz behind her in eighth with a time of 37:31.70.
Abia Kante had a great day with top-three finishes in the 100 m and 200m dashes. In the 200, the freshman clocked a 25.11 for second place.
Kathryn Couch finished in 26.35 for 11
th as well. In the 100m, Kante fired out of the blocks to a 12.37 finish for third.
Allison Bryson crossed the finish line in 12.78, placing 11
th, while Couch clocked a 12.79 for 12
th.
UC's 4x800 squad finished runner-up on the day after combining for a 9:34.60 time.
Ashley Terry and
Savannah Hossfeld opened the race with
Ashlyn Liddle and
Elizabeth Lucason running the final two legs for the silver. Terry and Liddle both finished 11
th in a pair of events as well. Terry clocked a 1:01.86 in the 400m while Liddle ran an 800m in 2:24.52.
The pole vault saw three Patriots in the top-10 finishers.
Trinity Sherrod cleared a height of 2.95m for fourth while
Amber Avery and
Mikaela Shock finished back-to-back in ninth and tenth. Avery had a 2.50m best while Shock vaulted a height of 2.35m. Avery also competed in the javelin, coming away with a sixth-place performance. The sophomore threw her jav 32.18m for her second top-10 finish of the day.
Pia Stern continued to have a good meet in the throws, placing sixth in the hammer throw. Stern hit the 45.44m mark for her best of the day. The triple jump was the final field event of the day for UC.
Jaci Woods leaped 10.66m for eighth while
Makayla Clark jumped 9.70m for 14
th respectively.
The 100m hurdles featured one Patriot competitor in
Mya Hines. She hurdled her way to a 16.65 finish, placing 13
th overall.
UC will be back next weekend as they travel to NC State for the Raleigh Relays. The meet will start on Thursday the 28
th and go till Sunday.
