Williamsburg, KY – The Pats finished their weekend strong on their home track, combining for six event winners and numerous other top-three finishes.
The first track event of the day saw the 4x100 squad take first place.
Allison Bryson started the race before handing the baton to
Abia Kante. She raced down the backstretch, passing the baton to
Beatriz De Souza for the final curve before
Kathryn Couch took over as the anchor. She crossed the finish for a combined time of 48.57.
Couch continued her success, winning the 100m hurdles right after the relay. She clocked a 15.83 time for the gold.
Amelia Richardson also competed in the hurdles, finishing her race in 17.65 for fourth.
The next race on the track was the 400m dash. De Souza dominated the competition with a 1:01.68 time, almost three seconds faster than the next finisher. She was the only Patriot in this race.
Bryson was the fastest Patriot in the 100m dash, clocking a 12.68 finish for third place.
A'Yana Gray ran a 13.16 for seventh just in front of
Shamaya Jones and
Hannah Baker who crossed the finish line together for times of 13.30 and 13.31.
Greta Sutton placed tenth with a 13.34 finish as the final Patriot competitor in the sprint.
A trio of Pats swept the podium in the 800m run.
Savannah Hossfeld led the way, running her two laps in 2:17.74 while
Ashlyn Liddle finished in 2:19.12 for second.
Elizabeth Lucason completed the sweep with a 2:22.50 finish for third overall.
Elisa Helferich placed fifth behind a 2:25.97 time with
Chloe West rounding out the Pats in the 800m with a 2:29.83 finish for seventh.
Kalaiya Dixon was UC's only competitor in the triple jump and came away with a first-place finish. She leaped 10.72m in her first attempt of the day for the win.
The final event winner of the meet was
Mya Hines, who scored 4341 points to win the heptathlon. She won two of the final three events on the final day, including the long jump and 800m run.
Pia Stern led the throwers on Saturday with a second-place finish in the hammer throw. She launched her hammer 45.07m on her second attempt for her podium placement.
Maggie Buerger placed fifth behind a 36.56m toss while
Emma Hall hit a 34.87m mark for seventh.
Meagan Petty and
Taylor Lunsford also entered the circle for UC, placing ninth and 12
th with marks of 32.44m and 30.39m.
All five throwers also competed in the shot put where Burger was UC's top finisher. She hit a 10.90m best for fourth place, just in front of Hall who finished with a 10.36m mark for fifth. Lunsford placed seventh behind a 9,65m throw while Stern and Petty had tosses of 9.30m and 8.70m for 10
th and 12
th respectively.
The pole vault featured three Pats finishers in the top four.
Trinity Sherrod finished second with a 2.90m clearance on her second attempt.
Amber Avery placed third with a 2.45m best on her first attempt while
Mikaela Shock cleared the same height on her final attempt for fourth place.
Paie Newby rounded out UC's jumpers in the high jump on the final day of the home meet. She cleared a height of 1.38m on her first attempt to earn a second-place tie.
Cumberlands will travel to Virginia for the Virginia Challenge next weekend for their second to last meet before the MSC Tournament.
