Charlottesville, VA – The Patriots split up and competed in two meets on Friday. The Pats sent a trio of distance runners to the University of Virginia for the Virginia Challenge while sending other athletes to the University of Kentucky for the Jim Green Invitational.

All three runners in Virginia ran the 5K and came away with amazing performances. The trio each broke the previous school record, led by Alina Boshchuk who ran a 17:11.36 for 14th overall. Elke Wijkmans followed just behind her for 18th with a time of 17:17.97 while Lismar Betancourt clocked a 17:37.39 for 30th. All three times were faster than the school record time of 17:37.96 set by Darcy Mascotti back in 2012. Boshchuk and Wijkmans hit NAIA "A" standards with Betancourt clipping a "B" cut.

In Lexington, Savannah Hossfeld hit an "A" standard of her own in the 3000m steeplechase. The junior placed sixth overall behind an 11:17.28 time. She improves off her "B" standard finish two weeks ago at Lee University.

Pia Stern was the lone Patriot thrower in action on Friday. She placed 18th in the hammer throw with a 44.83m toss on her second attempt.

Three Patriots raced in the 1500m led by Elizabeth Lucason who crossed the finish line in 19th with a 4:42.69 time. Ashlyn Liddle followed just behind her with a 4:49.13 finish for 25th while Chloe West clocked a 5:09.32 for 45th.

Beatriz De Souza rounded out UC's competitors on Friday in the 200m dash. She sprinted to a 27.99 finish, respectively.
