Women Make Program History with Sixth Place Finish at NAIA Outdoor Championships

Marian, IN – UC's women conclude their historic season with a program best finish at the 2024 Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Cumberlands placed sixth overall behind 32 points. This marks the first season that they have had multiple All-Americans in the same outdoor season as well.
 
Alina Boshchuk was the lone Patriot finisher on Friday, running in the finals of the 5000m. She recorded her second All-American finish of the week, placing fourth with a time of 17:34.80. This gave UC their final five points of the meet.
 
Cumberlands finished with 32 points off a pair of scoring performances from Boshchuk, including UC's first ever women's NAIA Outdoor National Title. Elke Wijkmans scored in the 10K alongside Boshchuk while Heather Durrant and Alexa Governor placed third and fifth in the 5K racewalk. Abia Kante was the final Patriot scorer, placing sixth in the long jump.
 
This concludes a historic season for the Patriots that saw top-10 national finishes in cross country, indoor, and outdoor, each representing the top NAIA nationals performances in the program's history.
