Georgetown, KY – The UC cheer team kicked off the 2025 season earning a pair of wins at the Georgetown College Invite Saturday afternoon in Davis-Reed Gym. It marks the first time since the 2018-19 season that the Patriots won their first two competitions of the year.
Cumberlands took the mat in the first round and performed a flawless routine. The Patriots scored an 92.36, which is UC's highest score for a season-opening competition since cheer started competing as a championship sport in 2018.
"I'm really proud of how the team performed," said Head Coach
RJ Conroy. "It was a great start to the season and we are excited to see where this goes."
Georgetown recorded an 86.37 to place second in the first round, while Cumberland, Brescia, and Lindsey Wilson rounded out the top-five.
The Patriots regrouped with another strong performance in the second round tallying an 89.78 for their second straight competition win. Cumberlands posted another flawless routine as the Phoenix notched a runner-up finish with an 80.71. Lindsey Wilson and Brescia finished third and fourth, respectively.
UC two performances puts them as atop of NAIA scoring with an average score of 91.07.
Cumberlands returns to the mat on Saturday, February 1
st, when they travel to St. Louis, MO to compete at the Missouri Baptist Invite.
