Cumberlands Trio Sweeps Mid-South Conference Weekly Honors

Bowling Green, KY – After closing out the regular season with an undefeated 32-0 record, the #10 Patriots swept the Mid-South Conference weekly awards, conference officials announced Monday. Brynnley Bryant was named MSC Attacker of the Week, Davey Slaughter earned MSC Defender of the Week, and Savanah Jolly claimed MSC Setter of the Week honors.
 
Sophomore outside hitter Brynnley Bryant led the Patriots offense with 35 kills, a .358 hitting percentage, and 24 digs across three matches. Bryant opened the week with 14 kills, averaging 4.67 kills per set, and seven digs in a 3-0 sweep over IU Southeast. She followed that up with 11 kills, 10 digs, and three aces in the win over Bethel (Tenn.) before closing the week with 10 kills and seven digs against Freed-Hardeman. The Wilmington, Ohio native earns her first Mid-South weekly honor of the season and of her career.
 
Senior libero Davey Slaughter anchored UC's back row, tallying 43 digs, 11 assists, and six aces on the week. Slaughter notched 13 digs, four assists, and two aces in the sweep over IU Southeast, followed by 17 digs and four assists against Bethel. She capped off the week with 13 digs and three aces against Freed-Hardeman. The Mount Juliet, Tennessee native earns her third MSC weekly honor of the season and of her career.
 
Junior setter Savanah Jolly continued to command the Patriots' offense, dishing out 87 assists and averaging 9.67 assists per set to go along with 21 digs over UC's three wins. Jolly recorded 34 assists, two kills, and six digs against IU Southeast, followed by 27 assists and 11 digs in the sweep over Bethel. She wrapped up the regular season with 26 assists in the win over Freed-Hardeman, helping Cumberlands remain unbeaten. The Louisville, KY native earns her ninth MSC weekly honor of the season and the tenth of her career.
 
The Patriots will return to action Friday, November 14th, when they face the winner of #4 seed Cumberland University and #5 seed Bethel (Tenn.) in the semifinals of the MSC Tournament in Bowling Green, KY. First serve is set for 4 p.m. ET.
