Patriots Women’s Swimming & Diving Soar Past Eagles

Williamsburg, KY – The Cumberlands women's swimming & diving team posted eight wins, including having a trio of swimmers earn best of stroke titles, as they defeated Asbury 107-30 Friday night at the Patriot Aquatic Center. This meet featured a mix of traditional events and three rounds of elimination style racing.

UC opened the meet by winning the 300 free relay as Moa Nyblom, Ugne Takuseviciute, Victoria Niska, Kathryn Harrison, Sarah Zoellner, and Celin Ullern teamed up to clock a 2:30.35.

The Patriots notched a one-two finish in the 200 free as Helena Jarosz touched the wall in 1:59.81 for the win.  Juliana Lopez Morales was right behind with a time of 2:00.90 for second place.  Both of these times clipped the NAIA provisional cut.

Addison Ringwald pulled away from the field to win the 500 free with a time of 5:42.99.  Judit Garreta Yuste followed suite as she notched a win in the 200 IM clocking a time of 2:22.45.

Cumberlands had a pair of divers clip the NAIA "A" standard with Morgan Schraudner leading the way scoring a 205.95.  Teammate Alexis Cole notched a 187.35 to finish runner-up in the event.

The second half of the meet feature three rounds of elimination style racing where the slowest two times in each round didn't advance.  Strong racing by the Patriots led to a trio of winners.

It was an all UC final in the 50 back as Sarah Zoellner matched up with Madeline Barbee.  Zoellner edged out Barbee in the finals 28.37-29.50 to claim the victory.

A pair of Patriots squared off in the finals of the 50 breaststroke.  It was Kathryn Harrison edging out Megan Schoenlein 30.80-30.88 to capture the final victory.  Harrison notched the fastest time in each of the three rounds.

In the final event of the night, the 50 free, Ugne Takuseviciute posted the fastest time in each round, including a season-best mark of 24.85 in the finals to capture the win.  Teammate Celin Ullern notched a runner-up finish touching the wall in 25.14.

Filippa Malmstrom advanced to the finals of the 50 fly and tallied a time of 27.13 to finish runner-up.

Cumberlands returns to the water on Friday, November 21, when they travel to Danville, KY to take part in the Centre College Invite.
