Bowling Green, KY – With a strong fall season, highlighted by four conference titles, the University of the Cumberlands Athletic Department leads the Mid-South Conference President's Cup with 53 points, conference officials announced Friday. In addition to the leading the overall standings, UC leads both the Men's & Women's All-Sports Trophies.
Cumberlands captured a pair of conference titles on both the men's and women's side with men's cross country, men's soccer, women's cross country and women's volleyball all taking home conference crowns. UC has scored 28 points in the women's all-sport standing, while edging out Bethel for the top-spot on the men's all-sport standings with 25 points.
Volleyball garnered 10 points after capturing their first MSC regular season title. The Patriots went a perfect 12-0 in conference matches, winning each match in a 3-0 sweep, before going on to capture their second MSC Tournament title. UC posted a program-best 36-1 record, reaching the final site of the NAIA Tournament for the first time in program history. They earned multiple top-honors, including Player of the Year (Sara Zampedri), Setter of the Year (Savanah Jolly), and Defensive Player of the Year (Davey Slaughter).
Men's cross country dominated the field capturing their third straight conference title. The Patriots had the top six runners and seven of the top eight runners cross the finish line, claiming the team title with 15 points. Cumberlands closed out the championship with nine All-Conference runners, led by Ishak Mekideche, who was the conference Runner & Freshman of the Year. UC went on to place third at the NAIA National Championships for the third consecutive year.
Patriots men's soccer collected ten points after capturing their first MSC regular season title since 2008. Cumberlands posted a 5-1 record in conference matches, including a 1-0 win #2 Lindsey Wilson. UC closed out the season with a 9-6-6 record, reaching that NAIA Final Site for the third time in program history and advancing to the national semifinals for the second straight season.
Winning their sixth straight conference title, the women's cross country team earned ten points. UC scored 22 points to capture the team title as they had seven runners place in the top 11 of the individual standings. Lea Kunstmann won the race capturing MSC Runner & Freshman of the Year honors, while ten Patriot runners garnered All-Conference honors. The team went on to finish 13
th at the NAIA National Championships.
UC women's soccer tallied eight points towards the President's Cup after a 4-2 mark in conference play. The Patriots closed out the season with a 17-5-3 record, reaching the MSC Tournament championship match, before making a run in the NAIA National Tournament, advancing the championship game for the second time in program history.
Cumberland is in second place with 47 points, while Lindsey Wilson accumulated 46.5 points. Campbellsville rounds out the top-four with 42.5 points.
