Women's Wrestling Finishes Competing at Patriot Duals

Williamsburg, KY – The Patriots Women's Wrestling team concluded their weekend with the second day of the Patriot Duals. UC's Squad went 3-0 on day two and 7-2 on the weekend. 

Cumberlands 28-20 Life University Green 

The Patriots opened their first dual of the day with a 10-0 tech fall win for Dutchess King in the 103 bout. Life scored their points by earning three falls and a forfeit for 20 points. The Patriots also gained 15 team points from forfeits. Along with that, Ariyannah Parson marked the fall in 2:18 in the 138 bout for 5 team points. In the 207-weight class Naomi Duenas earned a 10-0 tech fall to claim the win for the Patriots.  

Cumberlands 27-19 Montreat 

In their second dual of the day, Dutchess King opened with a 3:32 fall in the 103 bout to put the Patriots ahead. Montreat bounced back with two falls to put the score at 5-10. Kaitlin Castro responded for the Patriots by marking the fall in 0:51 in the 124 bout.  

The Patriots continued the pressure with Amaria Ridgner, Genesis Gilmore, and Giselle Mendez all earning tech fall wins. Montreat finished the dual with a tech fall win and earned points off a forfeit, but the Patriots remained victorious.  

Cumberlands 33-14 Campbellsville 

In their final dual of the day, King and Taylor each collected five points for UC from forfeits. Sarina Gunn earned a 14-4 tech fall, seeing the Patriots take a 14-1 lead. 

Campbellsville gained traction with a 12-6 decision in the 124 bout and a 2:23 fall in the 131 bout, but still trailed the Patriots 15-9.  

The Patriots bounced back with a 12-2 tech fall victory in the 138 bout with Mary Jane Porter. Campbellsville responded with a 5-2 decision, placing the score at 20-13.  

Micah Miller earned a 5-1 decision in the 160 bout, followed by Saiheron Preciado-Meza marking the fall in 2:27 in the 180 bout. To conclude the competition, Duenas earned team points from a forfeit, clinching the Patriots victory.  
 
UC will return to the mats Friday, December 12, for the Wasp Open in Emory, VA.
