Bowling Green, KY – After recording her fifth double-double of the season, Patriots center
Zaram Fredricks has been named the MSC Defensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. It marks the second time this season that the Lagos, Nigeria native has garnered this honor.
Fredricks averaged 15.0 rebounds per game to go along with three blocks and a steal over UC's two games on the week.
The senior opened the week with 16 rebounds, including 12 defensive boards along with 12 points and a pair of blocks in the win over Washington Adventist. Fredricks followed that up with 14 rebounds, a block and a steal as Cumberlands picked up the road win at (RV) Shawnee State.
Fredricks is currently ninth in the NAIA averaging 12.2 rebounds per game, while her 146 rebounds and 98 defensive rebounds are second in the country. She also ranks fifth in the NAIA with 48 offensive rebounds and ninth with 22 blocks.
UC returns to the court on Monday, December 15, when they travel to Lakeland, FL to take part in the Southeastern Invite. The Patriots will face Brewton-Parker with tip-off set for 4 p.m.
