Men Break Two School Records and Hit Five A Standards to Finish Weekend

Louisville, KY – UC dominated every event that they competed in on Saturday, hitting at least one national standard in all six races that featured a UC runner. Three A standards and a school record were set at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite while another school record was shattered at the 2025 John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston, MA.

Youssef Asslouj earned the fastest 3K in the NAIA this season with an 8:00.40 finish, breaking his previous school record by over eight seconds at Boston University. Luca Madeo was the second Patriot competitor in Boston, running in the 5K where he finished with an A standard time of 14:22.50.

The second school record came from UC's 4x400 squad in Louisville, KY. Jaysaun Smith and Cam Andrews ran the opening two legs before Rederick Soto took over for the third. Grayson Rahbany then grabbed the baton as the anchor and crossed the finish line in 3:14.32 for fourth overall.

Hauke Trost continued his great indoor season with an A standard mile finish of 4:09.26 for sixth place. The sophomore already owns the fastest 1K time in the NAIA this season, and now holds the third fastest mile as well. Max Young also ran the mile today, clocking a 4:27.97.

The final A standard of the day came in the 5K at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite where Serhii Shevchenko ran a 14:31.56 for fourth overall. Noah Loser followed with a 14:45.84 finish for 10th and a national B cut.

Cumberlands also hit a B standard in the 60m dash semifinals, where Travion Dotson ran a 6.81 for 12th. This is Dotson's second national standard of the weekend. Cam Andrews also ran in the semi's, crossing the finish line in 7.05.

The Patriots will now set their sights on the Mid-South Conference Championships in two weeks. The meet will be held in Louisville, KY on Thursday, February 13th.
