Elkhart, IN – The Cumberlands women's swimming team scored 346.5 points to finish fourth at the NAIA National Championships Saturday night at the Elkhart Aquatic Center. The Patriots recorded four All-American performances on the final night.
Cumberlands opened finals with a pair of NAIA All-American finishes in the 1650 free.
Michelle Weiss captured her second NAIA National Runner-Up finish of these championships as she touched the wall in a season-best time of 17:20.55. Weiss also earned a national runner-up finish in the 500 free and currently holds the second fastest 1650 free time in program history.
Juliana Lopez Morales clocked a 17:46.38 to place eighth.
Sarah Zoellner collected her second NAIA All-American honor as she clocked a 2:04.32 to place third overall. That time is the second fastest time in program history.
Filippa Malmstrom went 2:11.11 to place 12
th overall in the event.
UC had a trio of swimmers in the 200 breast finals. Freshman
Moa Nyblom clocked a season-best time of 2:22.34 to win the consolation final.
Ashley Schoenlein dropped almost a second off her prelim time to finish 12
th with a time of 2:24.49.
Megan Schoenlein touched the wall in 2:24.85 to finish 14
th.
In the finals of the 100 free,
Ugne Takuseviciute clocked a time of 53.52 to placed 16
th overall in the event.
In the final event of the meet, the 400 free relay, the quartet of
Sarah Zoellner,
Celin Ullern,
Ugne Takuseviciute, and
Alicja Sedlak combined to clock a 3:31.03 to place sixth and earn NAIA All-American honors.
