Marion, IN – The Pats competed in three events on Thursday, earning a pair of All-Americans and three spots in the finals of races tomorrow.
 
Ava Newkirk led they way for UC with a fifth-place finish in the 5K racewalk. The sophomore entered as the ninth seed, but dropped a 25:17.47 for her top-five finish. Heather Durrant followed just behind her in 25:23.54 for sixth, earning All-American honors as well and scoring a combined seven team points for UC.
 
The 400m dash saw Lillian Guzman make the finals after clocking a 56.76 in the second heat. This earned the final spot in the 400m finals tomorrow at 3:30 PM.
 
UC's final race of the day was the 5K prelims, which featured a pair of Patriot entries. Elke Wijkmans  and Alina Boshchuk cruised to fourth and fifth place to earn automatic qualifying spots in the finals tomorrow afternoon. Wijkmans crossed the finish in 17:38.89 while Boshchuk came in at 17:39.26.
 
Cumberlands sit in 10^th with 11 points, all from the racewalk today. They will look to jump up the ladder on the final day of action as they compete in five finals. For tomorrow's livestream click here.
