Bowling Green, KY – Three days after helping the Patriots capture the Mid-South Conference 3D championship, a pair of archers were recognized for their success as they were named the MSC Archers of the Week.  Joseph West was named the MSC Men's Archer of the Week, while Alina Distelberg garnered the MSC Women's Archer of the Week honors.

West was nearly flawless on the week capturing four podium finishes, including a trio of first place.  The Williamsburg, KY native carded a 422 with 17 bonus rings to capture the 3D regional title.  Entering the shootdown as the top-seed, West was in fourth place midway through, however, three straight bonus rings, including a 14 on his fifth shoot propelled him to the top spot on the leaderboard.  West followed that up by teaming with Heather Carswell to capture gold in the mixed fixed pins division.  The duo posted a 2-0 record on the day.  The junior's final podium finish came in the men's fixed pins division, where they posted a runner-up finish.  This marks the second time that West has garnered MSC Archer of the Week honors.

Distelberg had an impressive debut for the Patriots.  The women's recurve archer began the week carding a 402 to finish runner-up at the USA Southeast Regionals.  The Beaumont, CA native posted the fourth best qualifying score in program history.  During the individual shootdowns, Distelberg opened with back-to-back 12's to jump out to the lead and never looked back as closed out with 62 points to capture the gold medal.  The junior teamed with Lidia Quezada and Alexis McGraw to capture gold in the women's recurve team rounds with a 177-138 win over Pikeville in the finals.

Cumberlands returns to the range Thursday, October 2nd, when they travel to Foley, AL to compete in the USA Archery 3D Championship.  The Patriots are seeking their eighth consecutive national title.
