Williamsburg, KY – Ahead of Mid-South Conference play, Patriots forward
Zaram Fredricks has been named the MSC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in the past four weeks, conference officials announced Monday. It marks her fourth weekly honor of the season, which is the most by any player this season.
The Lagos, Nigeria native had a strong week as she averaged 15.0 rebounds, 5.0 blocks, 0.5 steals, and 6.0 over UC's two games on the week.
Fredricks opened the week with 15 rebounds, five blocks, and nine points in the Patriots win over Union Commonwealth. She followed that up with 15 rebounds, five block performances in the win over Miami-Hamilton. It marks the seventh game in which Fredricks grabbed at least 15 rebounds. Her performance also helped Cumberlands break their single game record for rebounds with 69, breaking the previous record of 68 set during the 1982-83 season.
Fredericks leads the NAIA with 206 total rebounds, while her 12.9 rebounds per game ranks seventh in the NAIA. The senior is also seventh in the NAIA with 36 blocks.
Cumberlands returns to the court Thursday, January 8
th, when they open MSC play against #1 Bethel. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m.
