Kansas City, MO – After playing a pivotal role in the Patriots season opening win over #8 Lawrence Tech, UC midfielder Lenora DeVries was named the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week, national officials announced Tuesday.

DeVries left a mark in her Cumberlands debut with seven caused turnovers, eight ground balls, and two points in UC's win.  The Roseville, MN native recorded two caused turnover, a ground ball, and two points in the first quarter as the Patriots jumped out to the 5-0 lead.

In the second half, DeVries scooped six ground balls and notched four caused turnovers to limit Lawrence Tech to just one goal over the last 30 minutes of play.  DeVries was instrumental for UC's defense that held the Blue Devils to their fewest goals in program history.

Cumberlands returns to the field Friday, February 20th, when they travel to the Sunshine State to face #10 Ave Maria.  First draw is set for 12 p.m. with live stream available here.
