Kingsport, TN – After playing a pivotal role in the Patriots winning their season-opener, midfielder
Ty Grooms was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. This marks the first weekly honor for the senior.
Grooms scooped a career-high 12 ground balls to go along with a caused turnover in the Patriots win over (RV) Tennessee Wesleyan. This surpasses his previous career-high of nine, which also came against the Bulldogs in 2024. Additionally, Grooms was a pivotal part of helping UC win 19-28 on faceoffs in the game.
Cumberlands returns to the field Saturday, February 21st, when they travel to Grand Rapids, MI to face #8 Aquinas. The game is set for 2 p.m.
