LOUISVILLE, KY – The University of the Cumberlands men's track & field team captured its third consecutive Mid-South Conference Indoor Championship, scoring a program-record 340.5 points to outdistance Lindsey Wilson (157.5) and secure the title in dominant fashion. Head Coach
Bradley Sowder was named MSC Coach of the Year, while freshman
Mark Lawin earned MSC Athlete of the Year and MSC Freshman of the Year after scoring 24 team points to headline a historic championship performance for the Patriots.
Cumberlands totaled 13 conference champions, 32 All-Conference performances (top-three finishes), five NAIA A standards and eight NAIA B standards over the two-day meet, combining dominance on the track, in the field, and across the relays.
The Patriots were led by five NAIA A standards.
Tavon Davis won the 600m in 1:18.23,
Lucien Beardsley captured the 3,000m race walk in 12:05.44, currently the No. 1 time in the NAIA and fourth-fastest in NAIA history, while
Tomas Mencel (12:12.77) and
Dillan Melchiore (12:46.32) also hit A standards in the race walk. The 4x400m relay of
Noah Kincade,
Tavon Davis, Ryan Miller, and
Jermaine Thompson clocked a 3:14.08 to win the conference title and post the No. 4 time in the NAIA this season.
Jermaine Thompson added a B standard in the 200m with his conference-winning 21.57.
Hugo Massa (1:19.87),
Jarod Mahe (1:19.98), and
Victor Carpeggiani (1:20.18) each hit B standards in the 600m, while
Ishak Mekideche's 8:22.62 conference title in the 3,000m met the B standard.
Ryan Ehrler (2:28.68) and
Hauke Trost (entered) also rank among the NAIA leaders in the 1,000m this season.
Thompson led a dominant sprint group, winning the 200m (21.57) while finishing on the championship 4x400m relay.
Lebron Williams (6.87) and
Aarontae Wesley (6.87) went second and third in the 60m to earn All-Conference honors, and Williams added a fifth-place finish in the 200m (21.80).
Noah Kincade placed fourth in the 200m (21.77) and ran on the 4x400m relay.
In the 60m hurdles,
Tanner Tumey earned All-Conference honors with a runner-up finish in 8.42, while
Zion Pruitt placed third (8.52) and
Mark Lawin took fifth (8.82). Pruitt also competed in the 400m, finishing 10th (51.21), while Edwin Van Wyk scored in the 400m with an eighth-place finish (50.11).
The middle-distance group dominated the 600m, sweeping the top four spots behind Davis.
Hugo Massa (2nd),
Jarod Mahe (3rd), and
Victor Carpeggiani (4th) all scored heavily, while
Reed Richardson placed sixth (1:22.31) and
Jackson Lowe added an eighth-place point (1:27.76).
In the 800m, the Patriots again controlled the podium as
Hugo Massa (1:55.62) and
Jarod Mahe (1:55.62) went one-two, followed by
Caden Cull in third (1:55.83).
Sean Crady placed fifth (1:56.54),
Max Young sixth (1:56.57),
Kyle Crady seventh (1:57.24), and
Maddox Knight eighth (1:57.36).
Lucas Hollinden competed in prelims but did not advance.
Ryan Ehrler captured the 1,000m title in 2:28.68, with
Caden Cull finishing second (2:30.11).
Victor Carpeggiani (4th, 2:31.62) and
Max Young (5th, 2:33.08) added points, while
Nathan Wagner (7th, 2:39.57) and
Tammo Doerner (8th, 2:40.48) also scored.
Hauke Trost competed but did not finish.
Sean Crady claimed the mile title in 4:19.18, while Casey Desilvey earned All-Conference honors with a third-place finish (4:21.40).
Kyle Crady added a fifth-place finish (4:26.80), with
Niklas Scherb (9th, 4:34.50) and
Linus Schaller (12th, 4:43.12) also competing.
Ishak Mekideche led the distance squad in the 3,000m with a conference championship (8:22.62).
Noah McClellan placed third (8:49.09), and Casey Desilvey took fourth (8:54.31).
Linus Schaller,
Marius Maupoux,
Niklas Scherb, and
Hauke Trost competed but did not score.
Luca Madeo closed out the 5,000m with a conference title in 15:13.52.
The field events were equally dominant.
Mark Lawin won both the pole vault (4.30m) and shot put (14.48m), while
Seth Massie (4.00m) and
Zach Lawson (4.00m) finished second and third in the pole vault.
Jelle Golbach added a fourth-place vault (3.55m). In the shot put, Massie placed seventh (11.64m).
Nathan Goodin earned All-Conference honors in the long jump with a runner-up finish (6.74m).
Seth Massie (4th, 6.61m) and
Jelle Golbach (5th, 6.47m) also scored, with
Tanner Tumey adding a seventh-place finish (6.34m).
Tristen Knox competed but fouled.
In the high jump,
Jelle Golbach,
Jason Bayindoula, and Nathan Goodin tied for fourth (1.85m), each earning 3.5 points.
Sincere Irvin placed second in the triple jump (13.21m) to earn All-Conference honors.
Austin Meacham (3rd, 14.48m) and
Byron Collier (7th, 12.87m) scored in the weight throw.
The Patriots also swept all three relays. The distance medley relay of
Noah McClellan, Edwin Van Wyk,
Maddox Knight, and
Luca Madeo won in 10:25.50. The 4x800m relay of
Reed Richardson,
Jackson Lowe,
Nathan Wagner, and
Ryan Ehrler captured the title in 8:09.15. The 4x400m relay capped the meet with a championship performance of 3:14.08.
With 13 MSC champions, 32 All-Conference honors, 10 national qualifying standards, and a record-setting 340.5 team points, the Patriots secured their third straight MSC Indoor Championship in commanding fashion. LWU placed second with 157.5 points followed by Campbellsville who scored 89 points. Cumberland University scored 85 points for fourth while Georgetown and Bethel rounded out the six teams with 50 and 13 points, respectively.
The Pats will now turn their attention to Gainesville, FL for the 2026 NAIA Indoor T&F National Championships. UC will look to battle for another banner on March 5th-7th.
