Bowling Green, KY – University of the Cumberlands women's basketball team has excelled both on the court they also have flourished in the classroom with nine student-athletes garnering MSC Academic All-Conference honors, the conference office announced Wednesday.  UC had every student-athlete that was eligible for the honor, garnering this distinction.
 
In addition to the all-conference honorees, Lakin Burke was named as the Patriots representative to the MSC Champions of Character team.
 
Veterans Mackenzie Babb, Lakin Burke, Zaram Fredricks, and Joy Kendrick have earned this distinction for the third consecutive season.  While Emily Naranjo and Amy Thompson have earned this honor in back-to-back seasons.
 
Joining them on the Academic All-Conference list are sophomores Darcie Anderson, Abby Varney, and Alexia Wilson, who earned this distinction for the first time as a Patriots. 
 
In order to be nominated for the Academic All-Conference Team each athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have completed at least one year at a college or university. The MSC also recognizes a Champions of Character Team for each championship sport. The student-athletes that are honored on the Champions of Character Team were nominated by their coaches based on their leadership on campus and in the community while demonstrating the five core character values the NAIA embraces.
 
The Patriots have earned the sixth-seed in the MSC Tournament and will face #3 Lindsey Wilson on Friday, February 27^th at 8:30 p.m.
