Rittman Garners AAC Defensive Player of the Week

3/2/2026 8:58:00 PM

Kingsport, TN – After a strong week helping the Patriots to a pair of wins, UC midfielder Emma Rittman was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.  Rittman becomes the third Cumberlands player this season to garner this honor.

The Pickerton, OH native closed out the week with nine ground balls, 11 draw controls, and three caused turnovers along with seven points as UC earned a pair of wins against teams that were receiving votes.

Rittman opened the week scooping seven ground balls to go along with three draw controls and two caused turnovers in the win over Warner.  The senior followed that up with eight draw controls, two ground balls, and a hattrick in the win over (RV) Marian.  Rittman was part of the Pats defense that limited the Knights to a 50% clear rate.  She was also a key part of Cumberlands defense that held their opponents to just one second-half goal on the week.

This marks Rittman's 14th career AAC Player of the Week accolade.

Cumberlands returns to the field Saturday, March 7th, when they host University of Health and Sciences.  That game is set for 6 p.m. with live video available here.
