BOWLING GREEN, KY –
Tavon Davis has been named the MSC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced Monday afternoon. The junior sprinter delivered a record-breaking performance to open his outdoor season at the Emory Spring Break Classic.
Davis dominated the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 46.20 to win the event while also hitting the NAIA A standard. His time currently ranks as the fastest in the NAIA this season and set a new Cumberlands program record.
The performance marks a strong start to the outdoor campaign for Davis and highlights his position among the top quarter-milers in the nation.
This marks Davis' first outdoor weekly honors, and second of his career.
Cumberlands will return to action next weekend as the Patriots travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to compete in the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State.
