3/26/2026 1:09:00 PM

BOWLING GREEN, KY – Junior, Tavon Davis has been named the NAIA Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, national officials announced Wednesday afternoon. The junior sprinter earned the honor following a record-setting performance at the Emory Spring Break Classic to open his outdoor campaign.

Davis put together a dominant showing in the 400-meter dash, winning the event with a time of 46.20 while also securing the NAIA A standard. The mark not only broke the Cumberlands program record, but also stands as the fastest time in the NAIA this season.

His performance continues to establish him as one of the premier sprinters in the country and builds on an already strong start to the outdoor season.

This recognition marks Davis' first NAIA Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor and adds to his growing list of accolades, including the Indoor NAIA Athlete of the Week honors he earned earlier this year. Tavon is now the first athlete in program history to earn multiple NAIA Weekly Honors in the same season.

Cumberlands will return to action next weekend as the Patriots travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to compete in the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State.
