Kansas City, MO – The University of the Cumberlands softball team moved up two spots to No. 18 in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, NAIA officials announced Wednesday afternoon. 

The Patriots, now 27-14 overall and 8-4 in Mid-South Conference play, continue to climb the rankings following a strong stretch on the field. Since the previous poll, Cumberlands has gone undefeated, earning a doubleheader sweep over Union Commonwealth, a series win over RV Georgia Gwinnett, and a three-game conference sweep against Georgetown. 

Cumberlands showcased its ability to win in multiple ways during the stretch, including a pair of one-run victories over Georgia Gwinnett and a walk-off win over Georgetown to open the series. The Patriots followed that with a dominant doubleheader sweep, highlighted by a run-rule victory and a shutout to complete the series. 

Jessica Cord has led the way in the circle, highlighted by a five-inning no-hitter against Georgetown. She also added a complete-game win in an extra-inning contest earlier in the week. Emily Delgado has been a key contributor as well, picking up multiple wins and delivering strong performances both in the circle and at the plate. 

Offensively, Kristen Smith has paced the Patriots with a .500 average during the stretch, recording multiple multi-hit performances. Delgado has also been a major contributor, posting back-to-back three-hit games, while Grace Ross added power with a home run in the Georgetown series. 

Cumberlands remains among the top teams in the Mid-South Conference as league play continues. Lindsey Wilson leads the conference at No. 11, while Campbellsville University (Ky.) is among the teams receiving votes, highlighting the depth and competitiveness of the MSC this season. 

The Patriots will return to action to close out the Mid-South Conference regular season as they host Bethel University (Tenn.) for a three-game series at the UC Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for Friday at 5:00 PM, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM in Williamsburg, KY.
