Haus arrived at Cumberland College in the fall of 1990 as an assistant athletic trainer before being promoted to Head Athletic Trainer in 1991, a role she has faithfully served in for more than three decades. Throughout her tenure, Haus became one of the most respected and trusted figures within Cumberlands Athletics, impacting generations of student-athletes, coaches, and staff through her leadership, professionalism, and unwavering care.

"Peggy Haus has been the heart of sports medicine at Cumberlands for over 30 years," said Director of Athletics Chris Kraftick. "Her dedication to our student-athletes has been unmatched, and her impact on this department extends far beyond the sidelines and training room. Peggy has helped shape the culture of Patriot Athletics through her compassion, work ethic, and commitment to excellence. We are incredibly grateful for her years of service and the legacy she leaves behind."

Since coming to Williamsburg in 1990, Haus has overseen the continued growth and evolution of the athletic training and sports medicine department while helping countless student-athletes recover from injuries and safely return to competition. Her leadership helped establish a strong foundation for sports medicine services at Cumberlands during a period of tremendous growth for Patriot Athletics. The Sports Medicine Department has expanded to include seven full-time Athletic Trainers as well as a Director of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation that serves the 28 sports and over 800 student-athletes.

In addition to her responsibilities within athletics, Haus has also played an important role in the classroom as an adjunct instructor for the UC Health, Exercise and Sports Science Department. She taught courses including First Aid and Safety, Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, and Kinesiology, helping educate and mentor future healthcare and sports medicine professionals. Ms. Haus' teaching career began more than three decades ago, teaching Athletic Training Internship as well as Exercise Physiology, Advanced Athletic Training, and Therapeutic Modalities and Rehab.

Haus remained active professionally throughout her career as a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), the College/University Athletic Trainers' Society (CATS), the Southeastern Athletic Trainers' Society (SEATA), and the Kentucky Athletic Trainers' Society (KATS). She is an NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer and is licensed in the state of Kentucky as an athletic trainer. She also served as an American Red Cross Instructor for both Professional Rescuer and Lay-Responder certifications.

In recognition of her longstanding commitment to the university, Haus was previously honored for 35 years of service to Cumberlands. In 2020, Ms. Haus was recognized with the UC Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual PATS Award for her countless contributions and lifetime of service to the Athletic Department. 2020 was a big year for Haus as she was named into the Kentucky Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame as well as inducted into the Troy High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Haus began her athletic training journey as an undergraduate at the University of Cincinnati, where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education (K-12) and Health Education (7-12), while also earning a minor in athletic training. She continued her education and professional development at Michigan State University as a graduate assistant athletic trainer.

During her time at Michigan State, Haus served as the Head Athletic Trainer at East Lansing High School in her first year before taking on responsibilities with the Spartans' women's volleyball and gymnastics programs during her second year. She also assisted with the MSU football program during both fall and spring practices. Prior to arriving at Cumberlands, Haus worked at Wichita State University as an Assistant Athletic Trainer serving women's sports and non-revenue men's sports programs.

Haus will continue at Cumberlands, where she is transitioning into a full-time teaching role within the UC Health, Exercise and Sports Science Department. In this role, Ms. Haus will continue to impact the lives of Cumberlands students for many years to come.
