2006/2007: Attended South Laurel High School. He was named All-District and All-Region during junior and season seasons for baseball.
2007/2008: Attended UC and became a member of the varsity baseball team. The UC baseball team was MSC Champs and Kyle appeared in 14 games with 11 starts, had a .222 batting average, 4 RBIs, 4 walks, and 5 stolen bases.
2008/2009: Appeared in 34 games for UC with 10 starts, had a .400 batting average, 14 runs scored, 4 RBIs, 5 walks, and 3 stolen bases. During the summer played in the River Valley League in Iowa. Was selected to the All-Star game, awarded a Gold Glove, and was named to the All River Valley League 2nd Team.
2009/2010: MSC All-Conference Honorable Mention, started 49 games for UC, had a .389 batting average, 61 hits, 32 runs scored, 18 doubles, 4 triples, 4 homeruns, 47 RBIs, .631 slugging percentage, 21 walks, and 10 stolen bases. During the summer played in the Arizona Wood Bat League and was selected to the All-Star game.
