Campbellsville, KY - The third ranked Cumberlands softball team came out of the gates firing on all aspects of the game when they faced #23 Campbellsville Tigers. UC had the lead the entire game and won 11-3 in five innings for the team's ninth run-rule of the season. The keeps UC undefeated in MSC play at 11-0 and 31-3 on the season.

Six different hitters recorded a RBI in the contest led by Bailey Turnbow with three. Paxtoon Hoop, Mackenzie Keatts and Carly Oliver all tallied two in the contest. In the circle Morgan Radford picked up her 10th win of the season. She went 3.0 innings, limiting the Tigers to just four hits and three runs while striking out three hitters. Talli Burgess came into relief for the final two innings. She held Campbellsville to just a pair of hits, while striking out two.

The Tigers got two runners on in the first frame, but a grounder to Emily Bryant at third allowed her to step on the base and fire over to first for the double play. This propelled the UC offense in the next half frame.

Turnbow led the inning off with a walk and Hailey Wood got aboard from an infield single to put runners on first and second. Next stepped, Hoop hitting a hard grounder up the middle allowing both Turnbow and Wood to score to give the Pats the early 2-0 lead. With Hoop on second, a walk to Radford restarted again put two runners on for Cumberlands. Oliver brought Wood and moved the other two up, offa single to left field. But the offense did not stop there, back-to-back walks to Bryant and Maddie Sickau scored two more runs for UC. The lineup then batted all the way around bringing Turnbow back up to the plate. She rattled off a double to right field in between the right fielder and second baseman. With two outs on the board, the runners were on the move and it cleared the bases making UC's lead 7-0.

Radford struckout two in the bottom of the second and then sent the offense back on the field to do some more damage. Mackenzie Pawlak got aboard and advanced to second with some heads up baserunning to lead off the frame. Wood dropped a sac bunt down to advance her to third. Next Hoop squared around for the squeeze bunt, which scored Pawlak easily and put Hoop on second. Oliver launched the ball into right center scoring Hoop and she raced around for her third triple of the season to make it a 9-0 game.

The Tigers got three runs back in the fourth inning to make it a 9-3 score, but it would be the only runs they score in the game.

UC answered back with two runs in the top of the fifth. It was once again sparked by the leadoff batter getting on, this time off the bat of Hoop. Taylor Green came in to run for Hoop and she was moved to second off a sac bunt from Radford. Green was moved to third off the bat from Oliver. With runners on second and third, Keatts laced the ball through the left side, scoring both Green and Oliver to make it 11-3.Â

Campbellsville got a pair of runner son in the fifth, but Burgess struckout the final batter of the game to give the Pats the 11-3 run-rule in five innings.

The two teams will finish off their three game series with two more games on Saturday, April 8. The first game is set for 12PM ET.
