Lynchburg, VA – The Patriots women's track and field team competed at the Brant Tolsma Invitational as well as the PNC Bellarmine Classic on Friday. A national standard and a pair of top-10 finishes highlighted the women's day.
Brant Tolsma Invite
Abia Kante posted the top performance of the day with a 5.58m leap for 10th overall and the top NAIA finisher in the event.
The 200m dash was the only other event featuring the Pats, as MaQuoia Raglin led the way with a 25.40 finish for 15th. A'Yana Gray also entered the blocks for the 200m dash, running a 27.46 for 74th.
PNC Bellarmine Classic
UC's top finish in Louisville came in the 3000m run from Jessica Chappell. The freshman clocked a 10:41.18 for seventh overall and was the top NAIA runner in the event.
Maggie Buerger posted a pair of top-15 finishes in the throwing events Friday. She finished 11th in the weight throw behind a 13.77m mark and a 13th place finish in the shot with a 9.62m best. The shot also saw Taylor Lunsford in the top-15 finishers with a 9.33m best throw.
Delaney Deaton and Hannah Baker also entered the throwing events for the Pats. Deaton finished 16th in both events with a 9.25m shot put mark and an 11.57m weight throw. Baker placed 22nd in the shot with a 7.64m mark while finishing 23rd in the weight throw behind a 9.29m best.
Anaya Jones and Ryleigh McCoy rounded out UC's competitors on Friday in the 400m dash. Jones clocked a 1:08.18 for 26th while McCoy's 1:13.55 earned 31st overall.
UC's women will return for the third and final day at the Brant Tolsma Invite tomorrow, Saturday the 25th. The meet will begin at 11 AM with the 60m hurdles.
