Birmingham, AL – The Patriots sprinters were in action at the UAB Green and Gold Invite on Saturday while a Cumberlands racewalker competed at the 117th Millrose Games in New York, NY. Both squads came away with impressive performances, including multiple national standards and program records.
Abia Kante led all sprinters with two national standards. She shattered the program 200m record with a 24.20 for an A standard, and the fourth fastest time in the NAIA this season. She then ran a 7.64 60m time in the finals for a program record and B cut.
Lillian Guzman also ran in both the 60m and 200m in Birmingham on Saturday. She clocked a 7.88 in the 60m prelims, then ran a 26.07 in the 200m.
At the Millrose Games, Alexa Governor was the lone UC finisher amongst professional athletes. She finished third overall in the RW mile, crossing the finish line in 7:15.06.
The Patriots will now turn their attention towards next week as the Mid-South Conference Championships will be held on Thursday in Louisville, KY.
