Montreat, NC – The Pats recorded several strong performances across two meets on Saturday. Most of the Pats were in action at the Montreat Open while
Abia Kante was the lone sprinter to compete at Mississippi State.
Alumni Bulldog Relays
Kante posted strong finishes in the 100m and 200m dashes. She ran an 11.97 in the 100m for 12
th and a 24.77 for 12
th in the 200m as well.
Montreat Open
In North Carolina, UC came away with nine top-five finishes including a first-place performance in the 800m. Newcomer, Viola Jepleting clocked a 2:17,78 in the 800m to win while
Chloe West finished runner-up behind a 2:29.25 finish.
Elisa Helferich clocked a 2:32.48 for fifth followed by
Jasmin Ponce who crossed the finish line in 2:34.15 for seventh.
The 4x800 also had a strong showing on Saturday, finishing second with a 9:42.21 finish.
Julie Meiner-Duedahl and Helferich ran the first two legs followed by
Megan Kitchens and
Elizabeth Lucason.
Maggie Buerger came away with a runner-up performance in the hammer throw. The junior posted a 37.50m mark for second followed by
Taylor Lunsford who threw her hammer 36.65m for fourth.
Delaney Deaton finished seventh behind a 34.20m toss while
Hannah Baker recorded a 20.20m mark for 18
th.
A'yana Gray led UC's sprinters at Montreat, clocking a 12.91 100m finish for third. The sophomore also finished third in the 200m after crossing the finish line in 26.65.
Kennedi Riascos ran a 27.80 200m race for sixth, and also clocked a 1:06.49 in the 400m for fourth.
UC are set to be back on the track next weekend at the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina, while also hosting the UC Multis event at home in Williamsburg.
