Women Earn a Pair of National Standards and Break a School Record at CMU

Fayette, MO – The Patriots sprinters had a solid day at the Central Methodist Invite on Saturday, six top-five finishes and a pair of national standards and breaking a school record.
 
Abia Kante was the top performer for UC, winning both the 200m dash and the long jump. The sophomore clocked a 23.83 A standard finish for first place, breaking her own school record and sitting third in the NAIA national rankings. In the LJ, she finished with a 5.83m best to win the event and hit a B standard. Thid mark ranks fifth in the NAIA so far this season. Lillian Guzman and Allie Bryson also ran the 200m, running times of 24.68 and 26.45 for fifth place and 22nd, respectively.
 
Guzman and Bryson also competed in the 100m dash, both finishing in the top-five. Guzman clocked an 11.95 for fourth while Bryson ran a 12.28 for fifth. A'Yana Gray rounded out UC's competitors in the individual events, running a 1:01.17 400m for seventh overall.
 
Bryson, Gray, Guzman, and Kante also entered the 4x100, where they combined for a third-place finish. The Pats crossed the finish line in 47.89.
 
Cumberlands will be back next week as they travel to Knoxville, TN for the 2025 Tennessee Invite.
