Women Gear Up for Outdoor T&F Nationals

Marion, IN – After winning their first national title in program history this indoor season, the Patriots women enter the 2025 Outdoor T&F Championships with the third most individual qualifiers of any school in the nation. UC will have 16 ladies making the trip to Indiana Wesleyan to compete in 10 individual events and two relays, as they look to build off their program-best outdoor finish of sixth place from a season ago.  
 
The 10K will see a trio of Patriots competitors as Alina Boshchuk will look to defend her 10K title from a season ago. Boshchuk enters with the fifth best mark in the NAIA this season of 35:28.19. Following just behind her is Sharon Jemeli who ranks sixth in the nation, while Elke Wijkmans enters as the eighth seed giving Cumberlands a chance to earn three individual All-American honors in the 10,000m run alone.
 
All three will also compete in the 5000m run as well. Boshcuk enters the 5K ranked eighth with a season-best mark of 16:52.91. Jemeli ranks 14th followed by Wijkmans who is ranked 17th in the 5K.
 
Heather Durrant will make her return to the national stage as she ranks fifth in the 5K racewalk. The sophomore posted a season-best mark of 26:40.65 for the top-five ranking. Ava Newkirk will also compete in the racewalk, entering as the ninth seed.
 
Abia Kante will compete in three events for the Patriots, including the 200m dash, long jump, and 4x100. Kante ranks seventh in the 200m dash with a 23.83 time and 11th in the LJ behind a 5.83m best. Kante posted All-American finishes in both events at indoor nationals earlier this year.
 
The only other field competitor for the Patriots in Indiana is Mya Hines who qualified for the heptathlon and high jump and will also be available for UC's 4x100 relay squad. Hines enters as the ninth seed in the hep with a 4605 best mark this year. Her 1.69m HJ is ranked 16th overall as Hines looks to earn All-American honors in both the multis and high jump for the second consecutive national meet.
 
Viola Jepleting will be the lone Patriot to run in the 1500m. She qualified with he tenth-fastest time in the NAIA this year, 4:34.69. She will also be available for the 4x800m relay.
 
Lillian Guzman and Tarikua Majocchi are the final two Patriots competing in an individual event at nationals. Guzman will run the 400m dash as the 17th seed while Majocchi is entered in the 3K steeplechase as the 16th seed.
 
Cumberlands' 4x100 rank 12th in the NAIA heading into nationals. Alongside Kante, Hines, and Guzman will be Allie Bryson, MaQuoia Raglin, and A'Yana Gray.
 
UC also qualified in the 4x800 where Boshchuk, Wijkmans, Majocchi, Durrant, Jepleting, Megan Kitchens, Julie Meiner-Duedahl, and Chloe West enter as the 16th seed in the relay.
 
The Patriots are coming off a team national champion performance at indoor nationals earlier this year and look to carry that momentum into Marion, IN. Events will begin on Wednesday May 21st with the heptathlon 100m hurdles at 10:30 AM ET. To watch the meet, click here.
