Patriots Athletics Collects 16 NAIA-SIDA Publication Awards

Kansas City, MO – The University of the Cumberlands athletic department has been one of the premier departments in the NAIA, finding comprehensive success in all facets resulting in a plethora of school records.  Behind the scenes, the Patriots Sports Information Department has worked tirelessly to provide elite coverage throughout the season. UC has been recognized across multiple organizations for their coverage and success throughout this season. 

Cumberlands garnered 16 top-10 finishes in the NAIA-SIDA Publications and Media Contest, including having a pair of national winners, as it was announced during the NAIA divisional day of the CSC Convention.  The Patriots were recognized across nine categories and it marks sixth straight year that UC has garnered double-digit honors.  Additionally, UC captured several top marks in the CSC Publication Contest and was honored with the inaugural NAIABall "Cody Butler Award".

"This department came together to provide unbelievable comprehensive coverage of our athletic programs and the Patriots student-athletes throughout this tremendous season," said Assistant Athletic Director Tommy Chasanoff.  "This group continues to raise the bar and it is incredible to see that hard work is being recognized by our colleagues throughout the country."
 
Cumberlands earned the top spot in both the Publicity Video and Website contest.  UC's Coby Walker earned the top spot in Publicity Video for his men's and women's promotion video ahead of the NAIA First & Second Round Basketball Round, which Cumberlands hosted.   
 
The Patriots earned first place for their athletic website (www.cumberlandspatriots.com). This year, Cumberlands continued to utilize a streamlined approach through their website making it a one-stop shop for viewers. UC has continued to see an increase in traffic to the website every year and for the third straight year surpassed two million page views in a year.

UC notched a runner-up finish in the Publicity Video category for Edwin Van Wyk's Men's Soccer video for their win over Georgetown.

Cumberlands notched a trio of top five finishes in the Motion Graphics (Gifs) category, placing second, third, and fourth.  UC utilized Gifs in multiple sports especially football, men's soccer, and women's soccer to display on the video boards. 
 
UC posted a trio of top-ten finishes in the Motion Graphics with Video Embedded category.  Quin Smith and Brandon Hensley teamed up for Charlie Muniz NAIA Player of the Week graphic, which earned third place.  Jayden Boelter's 100th Career Goal graphics finished seventh, while Kaylie Monday's career steal graphic placed ninth.
 
Hensley added two more top-ten finishes in a pair of categories.  He placed third in the Game Highlights category for his women's soccer vs. Cumberland highlights.  Hensley also finished tenth in Call of the Year for his call on Anthony Harris dunk vs. Freed-Hardeman.

Cumberlands collected a fourth place finish in the "Feature Video" that highlighted the Patriots success during the 2023-24 season.  This video was shown throughout UCSN broadcast this season.  The department also notched a fifth-place finish for Best Splash Page, for their 2024 Learfield Championship graphic.
 
Nate Powers notched a sixth place finish for his recap of the Patriots winning the MSC Indoor Track & Field Championship.  Jared Kilgore and CJ Arledge teamed up for the UC's football game notes against Lindsey Wilson, which placed eighth.  Chasanoff rounds out the Patriots top-ten finishes for his "Women's Swimming & Diving Season Preview." 
 
Additionally, UC garnered the inaugural NAIABall "Cody Butler Award". This award is presented to the Athletic Communication Department for the best overall coverage of a NAIA Baseball Program.  Brandon Hensley and Quin Smith have headed up that coverage this season promoting numerous record breaking performances and the Patriots run to the Avista World Series for the third straight season. 

The Sports Information Department also garnered multiple top honors in the CSC Creative & Digital Design Contest including winning Best in the NAIA in three categories.  Those categories are Photographer of the Year, Photo of the Year, and Game Program.
