Bowling Green, KY – After a dominant weekend in the circle against a nationally ranked opponent, Jessica Cord has been named Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season and second consecutive, conference officials announced Monday afternoon.
Cord turned in two standout performances against #16 Lindsey Wilson, posting a 0.00 ERA across 12.2 innings. She struck out nine batters and limited the Blue Raiders to just 11 hits over two appearances.
The senior highlighted the week with a complete-game victory in the series finale, allowing just one run on five hits to secure a 2-1 win and help Cumberlands salvage the series. In the opener, Cord tossed 5.2 innings without allowing an earned run, keeping the Patriots within striking distance in a tight contest.
Cord improves to 13-6 on the season and continues to anchor the Patriots' pitching staff against high-level competition.
Cumberlands will return to action this weekend as they travel to Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) for a three-game Mid-South Conference series beginning Friday at 4:00 PM. The series will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday scheduled for 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM in Henderson, TN.
