Aaron Watkins is the son of Kenny and Tammy Watkins and was born in Harlan, Kentucky. He has three siblings: his brothers, Kyle and Derrick, and his sister, Kara. Aaron is a graduate from Cawood High School. During high school, he won The First Tee National Tournament in golf and competed at Pebble Beach.

Watkins’ athletic career at Cumberlands included a 73.56 scoring average in 83 tournament rounds. This included eight wins, six runner-up finishes, 20 Top Five finishes, 24 Top 10 finishes and 36 tournaments. Watkins was named to the Mid-South Conference All Conference Team three times, won the 2011-12 Mid-South Conference Player of the Year title and was a three-time NAIA All American. He was also a three-time Ping/GCAA All American and a 2011-12 NAIA Academic All American.

According to Watkins, what he loved best about Cumberlands was “getting to spend those years with my brother, sister and their future spouses who all attended Cumberlands at the same time.”

Watkins currently resides in Anderson, South Carolina with his wife, Ashlyn, and daughter, Dawsyn. The couple is expecting their second child in the summer of 2019.
