Lisa Barton Nantz of Woodbine, Kentucky is the daughter of Rex and Joyce Barton. She played basketball at Whitley County High School and was graduated in 1982. Lisa attended Cumberland College, now University of the Cumberlands, and played on the basketball team from 1982 through 1986.
Lisa's college career was met with great success as the Lady Indians compiled 72 wins, including a 23-6 record during her senior season. It was the first 20-win season in Lady Indians' history. At-large berths to the national tournament were not in place at the time. Lisa helped lead the Lady Indians win the conference and sectional tournaments while securing the first trip to the 1986 national tournament in Kansas City, Missouri.
Starting in 108 of 110 games over four years, Lisa averaged 12.9 points per game, including two games with 25 or more points. She was the leading rebounder during her sophomore season with 263 rebounds, led in free-throw percentage averaging 86.6% her senior year and field goal percentage with 47.8% in the 1985-86 season. She also had 10 high-point games, scoring over 20 or more in a single game. Currently, she is ranked 8th in all-time scoring with 1,394 points and 5th in career rebounds with 741, including five games with 16 or more rebounds. Lisa was named All-Conference and All-District performer three times in 1984, 1985 and 1986. She was also named Honorable mention All-American her junior and senior years.
Lisa and her husband, David Nantz, have been married for 30 years. They have two daughters, Paige and Staci, and two grandsons, Landon and Eli. Lisa was a stay at home mom for her girls and now helps with the family business at Mikes Mini Barns.
