John is a 1986 graduate of Cumberland College. In his four years as a member of the Indian Basketball Team, John helped lead the team to win 124 games, averaging over 31 wins and 5 losses per year. He was a four-year starter for the Indians and helped lead the team to three NAIA National Tournaments. In the 1985-86 season, he lead the Tribe to the top of the national rankings for several weeks. During his career, he set the record for assists at 625, a record that stood until 1999. He is the 10th leading scorer in Cumberland history with 1445 career points, despite being the Point Guard. He once hit 11 consecutive field goals in one game, tying an Indian record. John is one of the few Indians to be named Third Team NAIA All-American. He was also named All-Conference and All-District his last two years as an Indian. John is currently employed by Bank One and he resides in Indianapolis, Indiana.
